How to Play

Each round
Press Go. A number appears with a bar showing how long is left. When it vanishes, type what you saw and press โœ… โ€” or use the number keys and Enter.
Getting longer
Every correct answer adds one more digit. Get one wrong and you lose a life; run out and the game shows you what the number really was.
How long you get to look
Longer numbers stay on screen longer โ€” flashing a ten-digit number for the same instant as a two-digit one wouldn't be fair. Relaxed gives you plenty of time and three lives; Sharp is quick and gives you one.
How many should I manage?
Most grown-ups get around seven. That's not a lack of trying โ€” it's roughly how many separate things anyone can hold in their head at once. Seven is a good score, and nine is excellent.
The trick everyone uses
Chunking. Don't remember 4 8 2 9 3 1 as six things โ€” remember it as "48, 29, 31", which is three. It's the same trick that makes phone numbers easier to remember than a random string, and it works brilliantly here.
Say it out loud
Repeating the number under your breath while it's on screen genuinely helps. Your ears give you a second copy to check against.
