How to Use It
- Rolling
- Tap the dice, press the Roll button, or hit Space. Roll up to six at once.
- Different dice
- A normal die is a D6 — six sides. The others have 4, 8, 10, 12 or 20 sides, the kind used in adventure games. Six-sided dice show dots; the rest show numbers.
- The chart
- Every roll is counted, and the bars show how often each total has come up. Changing the number or kind of dice starts the tally fresh, since the totals mean something different.
- Try this
- Set it to 2 dice and roll thirty or forty times. The bars build into a hill, with 7 tallest. That's not luck: there are six ways to make 7 (1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2, 6+1) but only one way to make 2. Six times as many ways means it comes up about six times as often.
- Average total
- With two normal dice this settles near 7. With one die it settles near 3.5 — a number you can never actually roll, which surprises most people.
